It's been many years since we were able to use our front lot and we are very excited that we have this for our use to start the school year. On the back is a diagram of our plan for both before and after school. Administration will be on the lot to assist. Students can be dropped off beginning at 7:30. Our official start time is 8:15.
Traffic on the lot will be one way, with a separate entrance and exit. The entrance will be at the end of our property closest to the 4 way stop and the exit is at the opposite end (by the gravel lot).
Our buses will use the "Bus Lanes" and those are the lanes closest to the school. This is also the lane for handicap use as well.
The upper part of the lot (closest to the road) is used for parent drop-off. We will be using 2 lanes for drop-off. We do ask that you pull forward to the sign to drop off so that we can maximize the number of cars on the lot. This should help with keeping cars off the main road and backing up traffic. Parent pick-up will be on the gravel lot. All buses will be loaded and dismissed first due to the time constraints that they must follow.
We are a very large middle school with over 630 students. We understand the need for picking up students in some cases and how this creates much more traffic in the area. We ask that if your child can ride the bus, to please utilize the bus transportation and help us keep down the amount of traffic out front.
Again, administration will be out to assist as we move back to our front parking lot for drop-off and pick-up. We appreciate everyone's patience and understanding as we work through the usual issues the first several days of school. If everyone helps us with these simple guidelines, it will help us keep our students safe and things running smoothly.
Thank you and we look forward to having another great school year at Elkview Middle.
