What is a school counselor?
  • School Counselors are certified/licensed educators who improve student success for ALL students by implementing a comprehensive school counseling program.   
  • School Counselors help all students apply academic achievement strategies, manage emotions and apply interpersonal skills, and  plan for postsecondary options (higher education, military, work force). 
  • School Counselors can provide short-term counseling and support to students  for academic or personal concerns, but make referrals to outside agencies for long-term support.

How can I reach a school counselor?
  • Students can request to meet with a school counselor on e-hallpass throughout the day or ask a teacher to request a meeting with a counselor. 
  • Parents can reach us by phone at (304) 348-1947 throughout the school day, and we will return your call when we do not have a student in our offices.
